Compromise...

Just closed down my Facebook account, for the FINAL time. It was a tough decision but an important one. For the last two weeks I've been hearing the words integrity and hypocrisy quite a bit. But what do they mean? A woman I met at work last week gave me an excellent definition of integrity.

The ability to stand for something and stick with it...

e.g If you say this is what you're gonna do but in the end you don't do it....or on the flipside if you say you'll never do something and the next time we turn around, you give in and we catch you doing it, you got no integrity...

Strong. Thought provoking. True perhaps.

The maddest thing is God doesn't seem to mind when we do this. The world doesn't stop spinning, life goes on. But what seems to be isn't always true. There are always consequences which go with compromise. Sometimes we'll get a smell of them on this side of the river, sometimes we'll have to wait, but we surely will see the effects.

Integrity is an honesty, truthfulness, and an authenticity about you. A pureness if you like. The quality of one who does not contradict his profession, in other words, someone whom even when tested will not change. He will stand firm in his profession or his decision. Can I be such a man, even with the guilt of past compromise lurking around? With God's help, I believe I can :)....
